Nocturnus

The world of Vhyr comprises of living beings formed from the balance of a life energy known as Vitalius.  Positive energy, Ellightus, mixed with negative energy, Nocturnus, is the building block of every creature. 

Tipping the balance toward one energy or the other was the balance between order and chaos for a creature, with those tipping towards the nocturnal side being more violent creatures.  

Humans have a perfect balance of the two sides, with their actions influencing their life energy balance as they grew up.

The story begins when Lyon, a mysterious spellcasting scythe wielder, happens upon a rather ordinary village being ransacked by bandits and decides to try and protect it.
